Not So Humane - Own Your AI

The Humane AI pin has reached end of life - 9 months after launch. Everyone who bought a pin will be left with a bulky $700 device that can… check its battery level offline[1]. All AI features, calling, photos, etc. are broken and not only that, users have one week to back up their data or else their data will be fully deleted.

This is so antithetical to the promise inherent in their name that I get a bit angry thinking about it (even though I never bought one).

At Quill, we have worked hard to provide a great experience that works offline and provides a ton of value (transcription! speaker recognition! auto-starting for meetings and video calls! export!) and we store all data locally. AI is going to be so important in the future that everyone will deserve to have their own personal AI - and no company should be able to take that away from you.

We will continue to build this way and add as much value as possible to users on their own devices as possible as we build more features and as devices become more and more powerful.
